Utterly Shocked and Mean No Disrespect

This post will be a bit harsh towards Ukrainian people, mostly the elderly, but will try to explain myself thoroughly. I have understood that Chernowetsky, the former mayor of Kyiv did not run a campaign, rally supporters, or even post billboard advertisements around Kyiv during the elections. Well then how did he become the mayor of Kyiv and later steal billions?

Well a few days before the elections he went to all the elderly people on retirement in the Kyiv Oblast and gave them gryczana kasha, bread, and sugar, valuing of a maximum 50 hryvnia (6 dollars). This wonderful act of kindness gave him the voting support to become mayor of Kyiv and practically rob the city dry. I do not understand how people, especially retirees of Ukraine think.

Do they believe that this man is a saint for giving us a small amount of food? Do they not realize that the 50 hryvnia's today will cost them thousands of hryvnias later? The retirees always protest that they are not receiving there retirement money, but what do they expect when such criminals are buying their votes for a mere 6 dollars a piece and that is a high estimate.

Can you readers imagine people selling their votes for 6 bucks. You can not even eat at McDonald's anymore for 6 dollars. This example of retirement voting power is not the only one. Tymoshenko also used a scheme to get the elderly behind her. When Tymoshenko was running for office she organized the banks to return 1000 hryvnias a month to the people still holding old soviet monies in banks. This trick made the elderly happy but the direct effect was that price for gas went up, groceries, and taxes sky rocketed, somebody needs to pay for Tymoshenko's scheme. These taxes that the wealthy manage not to pay their rightful share and the poor pay in full. Again the elderly were happy with there 1000 hryvnia's even though they later had to pay back more than that within the month. Tymoshenko actually made money by giving away old soviet money.

These politicians in Ukraine are business men and women. There is not one, besides maybe Klitschko but time will tell, who is out there to help the country and the people. All of the politicians are there to make money and Ohh boy do they. Ukraine has more Porsche, Mercedes, Bentley, and Rolls Royce than probably any city in the entire USA.

I have centered my anger towards the elderly because they are a large contingency of people who have strong voting power. They can not and should not allow themselves to be bought out so simply. Many of the young are trying to stick it to the man and the people robbing the country, but the elderly just vote them in over a months supply of food. The Soviet mentality must come to an end if there is to be any hope for Ukraine.
